
The mission of the NAACP is to achieve equity, political rights and social inclusion by advancing policies and practices that expand human and civil rights as well as promote higher education.
The NAACP will award four $500 scholarships. The scholarships will be awarded in two (2) separate categories:
Two scholarships to current high school seniors or prior students that graduated from high school during the years 2023-2024
Two scholarships for individuals under the age of thirty that are continuing to pursue advanced education.
Deadline: The completed 2025 NAACP Scholarship application (https://forms.gle/CLkxwNUbPyeDSjUg9)
must be received by 11:59 pm, March 31, 2025.
*The award recipients will be notified by email no later than April 15, 2025
Eligibility Requirements:
Must currently be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited college, university or technical school (copy of admissions letter and/or transcript must be provided)
Parent or applicant must be resident of Spotsylvania County
Must be a member of the NAACP or related to a current or past NAACP member
Must have a 2.5 or higher GPA
Must provide two (2) letters of recommendation from a teacher, school counselor, athletic coach, employer or church member. Please note that recommendations may not be obtained from family members.
Must be available to accept scholarship in person (If scholarship is not claimed within 60 days after notification of receipt of award the scholarship will be rescinded)
Application Essay:
Please answer the following question: How do you contribute to your community? Also, write a 200 word essay on one of the following topics:
Topic A: How do stereotypes and prejudices affect justice and fairness? Describe how you or someone you know has experienced bias or unfair treatment.
Topic B: If you had the power to influence society what would you do to promote a more just and unbiased society
