Your Vote, Your Voice: Be Ready for Virginia's 2026 Elections

Democracy works best when every eligible voter participates. As we look ahead to Virginia's 2026 election season, the NAACP Spotsylvania Branch encourages every member of our community to stay informed, register to vote, and make a plan to cast your ballot.
Voting is one of the most powerful ways we can shape our communities and protect our rights. Whether you're a first-time voter or a lifelong participant in our democratic process, now is the time to prepare.
August 4, 2026: Republican Primary
Virginia's Republican Primary will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Offices on the ballot include:
U.S. Senate
U.S. House of Representatives
Local Offices
Important Deadlines
July 24, 2026: Last day to register to vote or update your voter registration
June 19 – August 1, 2026: Early in-person voting
July 24, 2026: Deadline to apply to have a ballot mailed to you
November 3, 2026: General and Special Elections
The General and Special Elections will take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Voters will have the opportunity to elect representatives for:
U.S. Senate
U.S. House of Representatives
House of Delegates District 20 (Special Election)
Local Offices
In addition to selecting candidates, Virginians will also vote on three proposed constitutional amendments.
Proposed Constitutional Amendments
1. Remove Constitutional Same-Sex Marriage Ban AmendmentThis amendment would repeal Virginia's constitutional language defining marriage as only between one man and one woman and would prohibit the Commonwealth from denying a marriage license to two adult persons based on sex, gender, or race.
2. Right to Reproductive Freedom AmendmentThis proposal would establish a constitutional right to reproductive freedom, defined as the right to make and carry out one's own decisions regarding matters related to pregnancy.
3. Voting Rights Restoration for Felons Upon Release AmendmentThis amendment would automatically restore voting rights to individuals convicted of felonies once they are released from incarceration.

October 23, 2026: Last day to register to vote or update your registration
September 18 – October 31, 2026: Early in-person voting
October 23, 2026: Deadline to apply for a mailed ballot
