The Fredericksburg Free Press held a town hall-style forum for the candidates for Virginia’s 7th Congressional District on Sept. 16, at the Fredericksburg Convention Center.
Phil Jenkins, a former Free Lance-Star editor and current member of the Free Press journalism advisory committee, moderated the discussion with Democrat Eugene Vindman and Republican Derrick Anderson.
“Unlike a debate, each candidate will have the opportunity to fully explain their positions and platforms on matters they believe are most important to the constituency,” Free Press co-chair Seth Silber said of the event’s format. “The primary goal of this Town Hall is to ensure the public understands how each candidate, if elected, plans to serve the community.”
Fredericksburg Free Press is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and nonpartisan newsroom dedicated to covering the City of Fredericksburg, as well as Stafford and Spotsylvania counties. Partnering with the Free Press in hosting the town hall are the Fredericksburg, Stafford and Spotsylvania County branches of NAACP and Fredericksburg Area Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
