You Can Make a Difference This Year!
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - An American Hero!
*Are You Satisfied with the School Board or Board of Supervisors?
This is an Election Year within the County!
*The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was an “American Hero”! As we prepare to recognize and celebrate the birthday of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we ask you to reflect on the sacrifices he made to make life better for others. Now we ask you to examine your own life and measure the sacrifices you have made to improve the life of someone other than yourself and your family. Do you measure up or should you be doing more? Better yet, can you do more? Are we continuing to make progress? Are our children, grandchildren and other members of society going to have it better than us? Have we ensured the gains and opportunities Dr. King fought and died for will be available for the next generation? Have we allowed many of those great successes he obtained to fall by the wayside or slip away? Want to make a difference in your community and create your own legacy, as well as assisting in continuing the legacy of Dr. King, contact us at 540-847-7637?
*An Appeal to Get Involved for the Benefit of Future Generations! As we reflect on the great accomplishments and achievements of the late Dr. Martin L. King Jr, and organizations like the NAACP, SCLC and Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), we should be willing to do whatever it takes to keep and maintain those gains for the upcoming generations. It should be noted that many of these great accomplishments are presently being challenged or questioned of their need. State and local governments are drafting legislation and laws to limit voting access. Many of the laws are designed to restrict, deter, and even prohibit the ability of eligible voters in specific groups to cast their ballot. Nationally, Congress has not passed the voter protection bill. Finally, our local governing body voted to submit a request to the State Election Commission requesting that Spotsylvania citizen’s early voting be changed from 45 days to 14 days. So, your involvement and participation are desperately needed. The NAACP is urging everyone especially people of color to get involved in protecting citizens’ rights. For more information contact Mr. Petway at 540-847-7637.
