*Branch Will Conduct a “Virtual Community Fundraiser” on October 9, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. The Spotsylvania NAACP is recognizing the “unsung heroes” that makes things happen and has contributed to the county, church, and the overall community.  These courageous individuals have been in the background, in the corner or is never seen. However, they are the glue that keep things together, moving and operating. They never ask nor seek to be recognized. They are usually the first in and last out, the handyman or handywoman, janitor and the maid, the painter, repairer, bulb changer, carpenter, van driver, grass cutter, grave digger, and all-around fixer, you name it, they are it, without the fanfare or glory.  So, we want to honor them! The theme for the banquet is “Honoring Unsung Heroes of Our Community” & Showcasing Our Future Leaders. The link will be provided after payment is received. (see banquet flyer for more details about sponsorship) Please call 540-847-7637 for questions.

*The Virginia State NAACP Will Conduct Its Annual State Convention on October 17 thru 23, 2021. The convention will be virtual.   For more information contact Mr. Petway at 540-847-7637.

*Branch Recommends Renaming Jefferson Highway to “Veterans” Highway, Not “Patriot!” The branch opposes the county’s Board of Supervisor submission of the name “patriot” as a replacement for Jefferson Davis.  The branch believes that the name veterans will honor the men and women who has served in the military as well as acknowledge the new veteran’s hospital coming to the county. For more information contact the branch at 540-847-7637.

NOTE: Due to the Pandemic Monthly Meetings are ZOOM!
