NAACP Spotyslvania Newsletter December 2021

WARNING: YOU MAY HAVE BEEN DECIEVED DURING

THIS YEAR’S ELECTION PROCESS!

*LOCAL BOARD OF SUPERVISOR CANDIDATE DECEIVED VOTERS! Truthfulness, Integrity, Honesty, and good morals values are the qualities and characteristics that should be desired in persons seeking to serve as elected officials in the nation as well as in Spotsylvania County. However, during this year’s election process, Battlefield District Board of Supervisors candidate Nick Ignacio violated every aspect of those qualities. Mr. Ignacio attempted to deceive voters by creating his own separate sample ballots, implying that he was supported and endorsed by both the Democrat and the Republican parties. Given the historical perception that African Americans primarily vote with the democrat party, It has been reported that Mr. Ignacio made special efforts to approach African American voters and provided them with his fake Democratic ballot where he had checked his name as the recommended candidate for the Democrats. We want to be clear, Ignacio was NOT endorsed by the Democrat nor Republican party.

The NAACP is not sure how many votes were influenced by Ignacio’s blatant deceptive tactics. The NAACP has contacted the Registrar's office to inform them of this fraudulent and egregious violation of trust by Mr. Ignacio.  The branch is also asking for Spotsylvania voters to contact the branch if you feel you were deceived by Ignacio’s dishonesty and deception.

*CONGRESS STILL HAS NOT PASSED THE VOTING PROTECTION LAW! Throughout America State Houses of Representatives are drafting legislation and laws to limit voting access. Many of the laws are designed to restrict, deter, and even prohibit the ability of eligible voters in specific groups to cast their ballot. The NAACP is urging everyone especially people of color to pay attention, monitor, and takeaction against the efforts taking place to restrict, limit or prohibit people the opportunity to vote.

*The NAACP is Still Relevant!

As we reflect on the great accomplishments and achievement of the NAACP over the past 112 years, we should never forget those who suffered and made sacrifices for that we can have a chance to succeed.
